About the Author

Walter Shropshire, Jr. is a research physicist who worked at The Smithsonian Institution from 1954 to 1986. From 1986 to 2003 he served as an Ordained Elder of The United Methodist Church, serving congregations in Maryland and Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. Since retiring from active parish ministry in 2003, he teaches at The Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., focusing on courses in parish ministry and the dialogue between science and religion.

About this Discussion Guide

Drawing on stories of healing, as well as the insights of past and present theologians and scientists, Dr. Shropshire offers new ways to think about the nature of miracles, the role of faith, and the value of prayer in the healing process.

After the opening prayer, each section of this guide concludes with discussion questions for classes or small groups.
